Goolwa PipiCo are leading the way to ensure a sustainable future for South Australia.

Derek Walker, Ngarrindjeri Elder and Managing Director of Kuti Co, proudly works in partnership with Goolwa PipiCo to harvest pipis in the MSC certified Lakes and Coorong fishery.

Harvesting pipis by hand has a long and proud history in this region. In Ngarrindjeri pipis are called kuti. They’ve been harvested from the Coorong for 19,000 years.

Derek's approach is about honouring those traditions with his ‘Kuti Co’ crew of fishers, as well as building community. The venture is creating job opportunities back on country, and growth opportunities which can be put back into the community.

He explains to us when you Buy SA. For SA it’s not only good for our people, it’s also good for the planet.

Goolwa PipiCo care about the future of our oceans and sustainably hand harvest their pipis off the Coorong using traditional fishing methods. One net at a time means they never take more than they need.

Steeped in tradition, it’s a slow and deliberate process, that’s as careful with nature’s resources as it is with their precious Pipis.

Goolwa PipiCo know that applying a sustainable approach is good for their industry, better for the ocean, and best for our community. Working together, they ensure a sustainable future.
